A suicide bomber blew himself up outside a Shiite mosque in eastern Saudi Arabia on Monday but nobody else was hurt, residents told AFP.

“Suicide bomber for sure. I can see the body” which was blasted to pieces, said a witness to the attack in the Shiite-populated city of Qatif.

Casualties are feared in the blast.

According to local Arabia, a second suicide blast hit security headquarters at Masjid-e-Nabvi in Medina shortly after Iftar.

TV footage obtained from the blast site showed people rushing out of the mosque.

After Qatif another suicide bomber blast himself in the check post of police near Majid-E-Nabvi. Causalities are feared in the blast. Read more below.


Madina Blast

This comes a day after Saudi diplomatic forces thwarted a suicide attack on US consulate in Jeddah.

The suicide bomber was killed and two security officials were wounded in the blast.

Shahid Khawar Malik, an eyewitness, told SAMAA that the blast took place at Gate No 1 of the mosque shortly after Iftar.

Another witness, Syed Azafar Ali Shah, said that all gates of the mosque were closed after the blast and security forces reached the scene.
