A complaint was today received by police of gun shots heard at a Naval base in Gujarat’s Porbandar, but later it turned out to be a hoax after the security men conducted a thorough
search in the entire area.
“We received a complaint this morning from one of the guards at the communication room of the Naval base which said that he had heard two-three gun shots being fired,” Porbandar Superintendent of Police Tarunkumar Duggal told PTI.
“We carried out search operation”
Panic struck the Porbandar naval base INS Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat on Friday as reports of an explosion surfaced. Heavy security was deployed and phone lines were jammed but soon
all such reports were denied by the Navy. “News of explosion erroneous, it was a fire cracker that exploded near Porbandar naval base,” the Navy was quoted as saying in ANI.
The Indian Navy spokesperson tweeted to clarify, “Noise heard at/off Porbandar Naval Base is of fire crackers.”
