Rangers raid office of Asif Zardari’s close friend

Few hours before arrival of former president Asif Ali Zardari in Karachi, Rangers personnel raided his close aide Anwar Majeed’s offices in Karachi today (Friday), sources told.

The raids were conducted near National Stadium, Metropole and I.I. Chundrigar Road.

Four persons were detained while office records were also confiscated during the action.

In a separate raid in Clifton area, friend of Asif Ali Zardari’s frontman Awais Muzaffar Tappi was detained.

Some analysts termed timing of the raid  very crucial , which has sent a clear message to the PPP leadership.

PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari will land at Karachi’s old Jinnah terminal around 3:00pm. The former president is returning to Pakistan after abruptly leaving the country in June last year following a hard-hitting speech.

The paramilitary Sindh Rangers have in the past said targeted operation in Karachi is necessary to break the cycle of violence and corruption in the metropolis.
